Rafa in Shanghai semis

Hey everyone! Sorry that I wasn’t able to post since Ferru’s loss. I swear I was really bummed out about it. I mean, firstly it sucks because of the time zone differences- I wasn’t able to watch it. But then to get up in the morning and find out he had lost to Florian Mayer?! AArrgh! I know he has his up and down days, but there were quite a few days this year where he lost out to players he shouldn’t have.

Gotta admit I was psyched to have seen Nico beat Berdych in the third round. That’s not an easy task. However he lost to Delpo today- a bit too easily. Last week they played in Tokyo and Nico had manged to take the match to two tiebreaks before he lost, however today he allowed the Argentinean to run away with the score of 6-3, 6-3.

It was a tough situation for the Spanish doubles teams on Friday. David and Fer had to battle against Marcel and Marc. The former team prevailed 6-3,6-4 They’ll face Murray/Peers next. BTW, check this article out where Fer goes to visit a local hospital.
Rafa too has made it to the semis. He’ll face Delpo next. (BTW, credit to Stan Wawrinka for showing Rafa a challenge in the first set!) When the Mallorcan was asked about his semi against Delpo he said, “I cannot expect a similar match to Indian Wells, “Even the match was very hard there. The only way to play against him and be successful is [to] play my best tennis [and] play aggressively on this surface.”

Finally congrats to Carlos Moya. He will replace Alex Corretja to be Spain’s new Davis Cup captain. So we’ll see his debut as a coach in February when the team squares off against Germany.carlosHave a good weekend folks 🙂

  1. Hi Iram I know I’ve not made any replies for ages, but have had family issues. Still read your great posts tho!
Dearest Ferru is not “on song” right now is he? still, he has few points to lose from Beijing and Shanghai….. perhaps Valencia….?

    • Hi Carol! It’s always nice to hear from u. I’ll keep your mom in my good thoughts- hope she gets better. I hope you’re fine.
Ferrer had a really good year. I know he didn’t win that many titles, but in terms of majors he was successful with how deep he went. I hope he can do well in London.
      All the best~Iram
