All smiles in Madrid!

Wowzers! Talk about a successful weekend! Spain beat Ukraine 5-0. Reverse singles were also played. (I’m not sure why, sometimes they are and sometimes they aren’t?!)

I did try to search around on the internet as to why Rafa why chosen to play doubles instead of Tommy, who was originally going to play. Regardless, Rafa-the-steam-engine along with Marc, beat the visitors 6-2 6-7(6) 6-3 6-4. With the doubles victory, they were able to secure a spot for Spain for the 2014 World Group. It’ll be the 18th successive year for Spain.doubles dutydoublesMarc rarely plays singles, but he did so on Sunday beating Molchanov 6-3, 6-3. I’m sure he got a lot of support from Rafa & company. πŸ™‚ Good for him!dcmarcFernando got another match win for his Davis Cup record. It’s such a proud moment if one can win in their own hometown. sundayGlad to see they had a successful weekend. Now they deserve a bit of a break! Especially Rafa! πŸ˜‰ Hopefully he can just relax now and not worry about picking up a racket for some time. fer and teamcoach tweeted

  1. I’m pleased that Spain are staying in the world group next year – it’s where they belong! Hope they get to have another run to the title – and that they avoid GB in round 1. πŸ™‚
