David Ferrer didn’t start out his campaign for the Cincinnati masters as strongly as I thought he could do. Afterall he was playing Ryan Harrison ranked 102 in the world. I could only see the first 1.5 sets of the match. The first set was bizarre in the sense that each player had the opportunity to break [the other] at least seven times, but in the end they weren’t able to. Ferru had three set points before the tiebreak; he was having trouble converting those chances. (He had hit a couple out, and I’m not sure where he was mentally). I wasn’t able to see the rest, but from what I read it appeared that Ferru was broken in the opening of the third set, but quickly fought back to go up 4-1. I guess a win is a win in the end, but tbh that was a tough opening round for the Spaniard. He’ll face the winner of Tursunov/Blake next.
Marcel is going to play Tommy Haas next. Not sure how he’ll do because Tommy has been successful since his comeback. However last week the German was forced to retire in his second round. If Marcel does make it through he’ll be facing Roger Federer! Tommy Robredo is also finding his groove in the states! He’s into the 2nd round where Stan-the-man awaits him! Feli surprised a lot of speculators by beating Kei Nishikori 6-4 7-6. Up next for him is Jeremy Chardy.

The Robredo-Wawrinka match sounds like a lot of fun. One-handed backhanders in action against each other! This is the first time I’ll be seeing them play against each other. Hope it’s a good one!
