Fer’s in the final!

The Spanish do really well in Båstad as there have been 12th different Spaniards to reach the final. Fernando has a chance to capture his 6th ATP title in Båstad. I think he has a sure shot against Carlos Berlocq.

I saw Fer playing against Nicolas. He didn’t play superb, but he was playing better than he was last year. Honestly the both of them had poor statistics on playing their serve and return on an average: they were both around 40% for total return points and around 60% for total service points…it had come down to who made fewer errors! I’m not bashing them, you can take a look at their match statistics yourself (on ATP’S completed matches site).

Fernando Verdasco, right, of Spain thanks compatriot Nicolas Almagro after their quarter final single match at the Swedish Open tennis tournament in Bastad, Sweden, Friday, July 12, 2013. Verdasco won the match

Admittedly so I wasn’t able to see the match between Fernando and Grigor Dimitrov. It appears that Fer was able to serve at a better rate than his opponent. He’s still having a lot of trouble in the return department (38%) as well as not being able to convert break points 1/5 chances in this match.

in bastadReceiving this title would really do wonders for his confidence level which seemed to have really taken a dip in the last couple of years!

🙂 Hope you guys are enjoying your weekend. Take care.
