Summer is here!

Hello everyone! We’ve arrived at an intermission so to speak for the tennis season. Most players are hopefully going to catch their breath from the first half of this season. It’s summer…I hope they can catch some waves at the beach or stay up late at nights watching movies without worrying about an early match the next day! ๐Ÿ˜› New rankings were released yesterday. It’s still surprising to see Ferrer above Rafael and Roger! I think the Valencian can stay above Roger, but will have Rafa on his tail. Remember if Rafa does come back to play the latter half of the season, he has everything to win.

Besides Ferrer making the highest ranking of his career; there was good news for Fernando Verdasco. The Madridista did very well with his quarter finalist position in Wimbledon last week and jumped 19 spots to ranking to 35. And for the first time in over two years Tommy Robredo has climbed up to the top 30. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s always nice to read good news. BTW, Pau Gasol tweeted this a few days ago and the other one was Tommy tweeting of himself in Bรฅstad.pau tweettommy in bastad

Regardless of it being summer, the ATP circuit does hold official tournaments before Toronto/Cincy. They could be used for a chance for point gain or money. Nicolas Almagro has had an up and down year. He plays well but then on big occasions he slips-up big time. Hopefully this week in Bรฅstad he’ll be able to meet his best bud Berdych in the final (please note firstly I’m being sarcastic, they do not like each other and they’ll only meet up if seeds hold!) Nico last won this title in 2010 when he defeated Soderling.

I know that some of the readers that follow this site are from the U.K. So let me happily congratulate you guys on Andy Murray’s win in Wimbledon. I haven been a fan of him since I saw him play at U.C.L.A. back in 2010. I know the country was constantly pressuring him to win that particular tournament. He played really well against Nole.

BTW, it’s so annoyingly hot here. I really envy those of you who live in Europe. It seems like you guys get a nice breeze all year round! Do you guys have any fun plans? Not so much for me. My daughter finally starts kindergarten so I’ll just be busy with doing mom-things! lol take care guys, all the best!

  1. Hi Iram, thanks for your nice words about Andy’s Wimbledon win. ๐Ÿ™‚ It was amazing seeing him win on Sunday, especially after coming close last year. Hopefully it won’t be another 77 years until the next British man wins Wimbledon!

It’s great to see Ferru at number 3 now. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope he can end the year in the top 4 – the chances are quite good I think though no doubt Federer will be very motivated to gain ranking points.

Hope you have a nice summer and that your daughter enjoys kindergarten. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s been warm here (for a change!) so it’s been nice to spend some time relaxing in the sun.

    • Hi Katie,
I’m sure most people are buzzing in excitement for the much awaited news of the ‘royal baby’. I’m excited for the news…I think the baby will be adorable for sure! The momma is really pretty. ๐Ÿ™‚
Wonder what Ferru will be ranked in Barclay’s end of year finals? Maybe three with the ways things are going. But on the other note Ferru does have a lot of points to defend.
Have a nice summer. ๐Ÿ™‚ Have lots of fun
