Hi guys. In some ways the no tennis on Sundays can be appreciated. It gives them a day to relax and get more rest. It’ll be a jam packed Monday. Hopefully we’ll be treated to some fun matches.
Fernando was on the tennis channel being interviewed by Jim Courier. The player said that he had just recently picked up a new racket before the tournament started. (Isn’t that a lil too risky?!) He’s actually doing quite well here. In his last match he beat Gulbis easily (who can be a threat at any given time) 6-2, 6-4, 6-4. His key statistics in this match were points won at net 88% and the low amount of unforced errors- only 7! 🙂 He plays Kenny De Schepper from France next. I do like Fer’s chances to get into the quarterfinals. Up till this point he is gaining ranking pints. (He lost in third round last year!)
I knew it was going to be tough for Feli to beat Tommy Haas. He lost to the German. I hope him (along with Nico who lost to Janowicz) can have a good summer.
Anyone else surprised that David has had some hiccups in this tournament? He lost a set to Bautista-Agut…I didn’t think that David would have so much trouble against Dogopolov. Credit to the Ukrainian for putting up a fight, and I know that guy has a tricky serve. But Ferru has mostly found success against him in the past! The draw isn’t getting easier for the Valencian. He’s playing Dodig next. If seeds hold he’ll play Juan Martin Del Potro in quarterfinals.
I will post again after the Monday matches are over.
