Mid-week update

I wanted to post these pics, but could never find them. First thanks to Mariposaxprs, she kindly directed me to Running Forehand where I found this pic. Ferru and Gonzo had an emotional meet-up at the net after the quarterfinal in Buenos Aires. There was a long hug between the two friends. Afterwards Ferru had tweeted about how he was grateful for the years of friendship the two had shared throughout Gonzo’s career.

Secondly here is a pic I also was on the hunt for. It’s a pic of Fer and David Marrero after their first win as a doubles team in Buenos Aires. This came off Following Real Madrid’s site. I like how he’s sporting a Realย  Madrid shirt…he really loves his team! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully Fer will play better as a doubles partner this year. Last year he lost in 3 out of the 4 Davis Cup doubles-ties he part took in. (QF with Granollers to Bryan Bros, SF with Feli, and F with Feli)

Feli lost to Roger today, 5-7, 3-6. To be honest this was quite expected. Roger now has a 10-0 H2H against him. I think the closest he ever was to beating him was in Madrid last year where he actually had a match point, but alas it wasn’t meant to be.

Here is a pic of him showing off his balancing skills ๐Ÿ™‚

David teamed up with compatriot Albert Ramos for playing doubles in Mexico. They won their first match 7-6, 7-5 over Butorac/Soares, recent champions of the Sao Paulo tournament.

More bad news for Juan Carlos as he lost his first round to Stan Wawrinka in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 4-6. This must really bum him out; as he is supposed to play well on this surface. It probably hurts a lil more because last time he played in this tournament he was a finalist where he lost to good friend David Ferrer (3-6, 6-3, 1-6).

Nico will face Fernando in the quarterfinals in Acapulco. Fer leads the H2H 4-2, but Fer has had a slackish form lately. I wont be surprised if Nico will win…but then again Nico might be tired. After all he had to beat Paire in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 whereas Fer took care of Juan Ignanio Chela quite easily 6-4, 6-2.

David will play Pablo Andujar in another quarterfinal. Both these guys are native to the Valencia region of Spain. When asked in interviews who do you admire as a tennis player, Pablo responds by saying David Ferrer. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Ferru has a 1-0 H2H against him.

More to come later!
